So my friend Lisa is the one that told me I needed to do this (ohjudy.blogspot.com) after her husband Chris (thejollyporter.blogspot.com) started his blog. I'm one of those people who love to write, and used to write quite a bit. I majored in creative writing in college, and for about 5 years afterwards (well OK, 1 year if you count the number of years since I actually graduated.) carried around my "Writer's Notebook" in my bag in the unlikely event that inspiration were to strike. It did sometimes. About once a year, and I would write down some clever sentence that someday would be part of an even more clever novel or short story, and that would be the end of that. So I stopped carrying around that notebook about a week ago, and then Lisa suggested I start my own blog. So why not. It is my new Notebook.
So the title...Well, the aforementioned Chris and Lisa used to live in England where Chris went to graduate school and Lisa held of waves of depression brought on by incessant rain and no access to a Wendy's. Lisa during the day would take her kids to the park, where there was a river and some ducks. And for some reason one of her boys named two of the ducks Table and Singlepot. I always thought that it was the most delightful set of names, and of course, being the writer that I am, said that I should write a children's book about those ducks, which of course I never did. So the names are a little reminder that I am a lazy writer, and hopefully this blog will someday be more than this entry.
Well, I promised my wife I would be in bed by midnight. I hopefully will be back soon...

Hi Josh,
One of the interesting things about Table and Singlepot is that Table went missing about two months before we came home. And there was a story on it in the local paper! Because that's how boring life in our little village was.
Welcome to the blog world. You have always been one of my favorite writers. You and Judy Blume, that is!
Yeah! My dream came true and you did it! I'm bookmarking you right away! I think it's appropriate that we gave each other the idea for our blog names. Now we're connected forever. . .
You are a great writer and I should mention to your blog audience, a faithful friend as well. You're the one who sent me my tv tapes when I lived in that quaint, quiet town of Dawlish with its elfish quality. and yes, no Wendy's.
Ok, Joshie! Time for a new blog. And don't wait for lunchdate to post comments. They never do. I guess we are all silent supporters. Or athletic supporters. One of those.
seriously, you've been back a few days now, even encouraged Ken to write a blog. . . I know Ann Taylor owns you know, but really! TIME FOR NEW BLOG!
Josh,
Jed and I are already fans of your blog and you've hardly written. Please continue on. Jed has a love for your writing that goes deeper than our marriage covenants.
Love, Jayne
P.S. One child and one on the way? Us too. We should be friends.
Josh,
My fellow Bingham!!! It is so fun to see how everyone is doing via the blogs. I loved Table and Singlepot--we managed to visit her twice!!
Congrats on your upcoming baby--the more Binghams the better. Did Lisa tell you I wanted you to cater our son's adoption/sealing party? You are my partner in cooking. Next time I am in town--lets try and get together at the same time at Clarks.
