Jonah asked me what was my favorite part of Disneyland and I told him the food. He thought I was crazy, but it is true. If I had to take a trip to the Land and had to choose between not riding any rides or not eating anything in the park, I would forgo the rides easily. I love the rides, don't get me wrong. And they have a whole new meaning of fun now that I get to see them through my kids eyes. Like seeing them discover Matterhorn this year and then riding it 400 times. So cute. But I love my Disney treats. So here is a list of what I loved on this trip. It is not all inclusive. It has some old faves and some new comers, but these were the things that kept me going.
Corn Dog Cart Dogs from the Corn Dog Cart - The gold standard of Disneyland snacks. Delicious, fried, crispy and definitely a two-hander. I am not normally a corn dog kinda person. But these rule.
Frozen Lemonade with a shot of Cherry from some cart in Frontier Land. Why have I never had this before? Delicious and refreshing.
Peanut Brittle from the Main Street Candy Shop. Why did I ever have to discover this? So buttery and brittley. It may just need to be an annual tradition.
Bengal BBQ in Adventure Land. Everything on the menu. We didn't eat there this year because there was nothing there our kids would eat, but I would smell it as I walked by and miss it. So yummy.
BLT Flatbread from Village Haus in Fantasy Land. 'Member when Village Haus just served Burgers? And now they have this flatbread with shaved fennel, arugula, tomatoes, caramelized onions and smokey Smoke Monster bacon on flatbread? Thank you, Village Haus. Thank you.
Chimichanga from various street vendors all over the park. This is the weirdest food in the land. Why would you want a big deep fried burrito? WHY WOULDN'T YOU?!!? Warm and filling and about $5. Can't go wrong.
Spring Greens Salad from Pizza Planet. Spring Greens, walnuts, blue cheese, golden raisins and basil balsamic vinaigrette. Not everything I eat is fried.
Cookies and Cream Ice Cream from Gibson Girl or Brrr Bank Ice Cream. I don't know if Disney makes their own Ice Cream or what, but WHY IS IT SO GOOD?!?!
The list could go on and on. But I need to go to bed. Tell me in the comments what snacks you love at Disneyland. And don't mention how expensive the food is there. We know, we get it, we accept it. Go to the "Crabby About Disneyland" blog if you want that.
Also, some random pictures. Probably the same ones I posted on FB.
I mean, for real?
Heimlich. We love him. When we got off, Lila said "I likka da choo choo!"
Lila had collapsed, so Noel took this photo.
Noel has no fear and rode EVERY thrill ride. Screamin', Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain. Everything. He's a cutey.
Jungle's Roid
More Jungle's roid
He's scared of headhunters
I hate the teacups but I end up on them every year.
Don't Lila and Noel look like they live in that little house and Jonah is the giant who came to visit?
Jonah's favorite.
Disneyland: I miss you already.
