Jonah asked me what was my favorite part of Disneyland and I told him the food. He thought I was crazy, but it is true. If I had to take a trip to the Land and had to choose between not riding any rides or not eating anything in the park, I would forgo the rides easily. I love the rides, don't get me wrong. And they have a whole new meaning of fun now that I get to see them through my kids eyes. Like seeing them discover Matterhorn this year and then riding it 400 times. So cute. But I love my Disney treats. So here is a list of what I loved on this trip. It is not all inclusive. It has some old faves and some new comers, but these were the things that kept me going.
Corn Dog Cart Dogs from the Corn Dog Cart - The gold standard of Disneyland snacks. Delicious, fried, crispy and definitely a two-hander. I am not normally a corn dog kinda person. But these rule.
Frozen Lemonade with a shot of Cherry from some cart in Frontier Land. Why have I never had this before? Delicious and refreshing.
Peanut Brittle from the Main Street Candy Shop. Why did I ever have to discover this? So buttery and brittley. It may just need to be an annual tradition.
Bengal BBQ in Adventure Land. Everything on the menu. We didn't eat there this year because there was nothing there our kids would eat, but I would smell it as I walked by and miss it. So yummy.
BLT Flatbread from Village Haus in Fantasy Land. 'Member when Village Haus just served Burgers? And now they have this flatbread with shaved fennel, arugula, tomatoes, caramelized onions and smokey Smoke Monster bacon on flatbread? Thank you, Village Haus. Thank you.
Chimichanga from various street vendors all over the park. This is the weirdest food in the land. Why would you want a big deep fried burrito? WHY WOULDN'T YOU?!!? Warm and filling and about $5. Can't go wrong.
Spring Greens Salad from Pizza Planet. Spring Greens, walnuts, blue cheese, golden raisins and basil balsamic vinaigrette. Not everything I eat is fried.
Cookies and Cream Ice Cream from Gibson Girl or Brrr Bank Ice Cream. I don't know if Disney makes their own Ice Cream or what, but WHY IS IT SO GOOD?!?!
The list could go on and on. But I need to go to bed. Tell me in the comments what snacks you love at Disneyland. And don't mention how expensive the food is there. We know, we get it, we accept it. Go to the "Crabby About Disneyland" blog if you want that.
Also, some random pictures. Probably the same ones I posted on FB.
I mean, for real?
Heimlich. We love him. When we got off, Lila said "I likka da choo choo!"
Lila had collapsed, so Noel took this photo.
Noel has no fear and rode EVERY thrill ride. Screamin', Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Thunder Mountain. Everything. He's a cutey.
Jungle's Roid
More Jungle's roid
He's scared of headhunters
I hate the teacups but I end up on them every year.
Don't Lila and Noel look like they live in that little house and Jonah is the giant who came to visit?
Jonah's favorite.
Disneyland: I miss you already.

What a wonderful vacation and great eats too! It's been almost 3 years since we visited the Land and I miss it so bad. I'm not sure what my favorite snack there is, but the most memorable was the red bean ice cream bar from Disneyland Hong Kong. One year we went with all of my extended fam and treated my parents to dinner at the Blue Bayou inside the Pirates of the Carribean. I hope someday our kids treat us to dinner there too- ha ha! I'm also trying to get connections to visit Club 33. A girl can dream right?
I can't believe you didn't mention the giant turkey legs.
I love the Mickey icon rice krispie treat with the ears dipped in chocolate. Always so good. The biscuits and gravy at the River Belle Terrace were also a favorite. The dole whip also is to die for. Lillian was upset when we got it once because she only wanted vanilla. The grandmother type person serving us saw it and gave Lillian a little cup of vanilla for free. That was at the World, but still a fools memory nonetheless
That would be food memory
How did I forget the Dole Whip!?!! Since we go in the winter I never get one...I would go with the Dole Float. So good.
And I like calling it a fools memory. Funny.
The last time I went to Disneyland I was 11 and my parents refused to buy any of the food.
So. I have no idea. This post was instructive!
The gumbo right next to the Pirates of the Caribbean in a bread bowl is so perfect when you're there on a cold day and it's freaking delicious. It's also hot enough to require medical attention if you don't wait for it to cool before ingesting, but totally worth it.
DOLE WHIP! Oh, how I love D-land. As I read this, I could smell it.
I have loved catching up on your blog and I also dislike dogs and did you know people here push them in strollers and they wear dog Uggs? I can't take it.
The banana split at Carnation Cafe is insane I tell you, INSANE!! I am not a banana split kinda gal, but it is my favorite! Mint julep, hello? The chocolate chip cookies from Blue Ribbon, the giant rice crispy treat with equally giant chocolate layer on top from Pooh Corner, and a recent find- the jalapeno cheese filled pretzel in Frontierland, it's a must! Oh I could go on all day, but now I'm hungry and sad like a little orphan girl.
'member the fresh chocolate chip cookie sandwiches at Disneyworld? And Coke floats with chocolate ice cream? So evil in such a good way!
hello-- churros!
and i really wish i would have know about the BLT flatbread. that would have been awesome.
favorite corndog-related quote by hadley "mooooooommm....this corndog is heaaaaaaavy" (whining, of course)
The gingerbread men at Christmas are ridiculous . . . just ridiculous. And I second the gumbo by Pirates. The Goofy's Kitchen buffet in the Disneyland Hotel though . . . PRICELESS. One on one access to characters and a buffet with disney themed treats for the kids and eggs benedict and made to order banana nutella crepes and creme brulee made in the kitchen of the heavens and more for the adults. Noah loved the lox bar most.
