Two types

I think there are two types of people in the world...the Sweets and the Savories. Maybe if you are not obsessed with food as I am, then you might divide people by their political beliefs, or their gender, or whether they plan on reading Tyra Banks' new novel, Modelland. But not me. It is all based on what you want to eat when you can eat whatever you want.

Savories are people who want to eat potato chips or french fries. Sweets are people who would rather eat carrot cake, or chocolate chip cookies, or cheesecake, or pie, or donuts, or eclairs, or pasty or lime pound cake with raspberry sauce, or fondue, or coffee cake, or truffles, or peanut butter bars, or lemon bars, or pecan bars, or  candy. Can you guess which one that I am?

Lately I have been trying to lose a little weight. And I have been realizing that I am a little jealous of the Savories. If you are a savory, and you want something savory to eat, there are literally one million options. Many that are unhealthy, fo' sho'. But plenty that are delicious and not bad for you. Roasted asparagus, edamame, whole wheat crackers with goat cheese and tomatoes, baked potatoes, etc. Amy is a Savory and she can always find some delicious and healthy snack to eat while watching Parenthood (are you watching this show? It is delightful.) But when I have a craving for something sweet, there is no healthy options. Sure there are Skinny Cows. But it JUST ISN'T THE SAME. Yes, fresh strawberries are delicious. But they are better when served with vanilla ice cream and sprinkled with brown sugar. You can have raisin bran, but wouldn't you rather have Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Nothing, sir, is as good as chocolate chip cookies. The non-healthy option wins out every time. I mean seriously, which of these would  you rather eat.

Option A:

or Option B:

Is there ANY option really? Where is the joy and the satisfaction in eating Red Velvet Cake flavored yogurt? There is none.

So here I sit, watching Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains, wanting something to snack on, but lamenting the fact that there is nothing out there in the land of healthy options for us Sweets. If only I had a chocolate chip cookie flavored yogurt...and instead of yogurt, it is ice cream. And instead of fat free, it is fat full. Yeah, that is what I want.

I love Parenthood and dare I say I am a boundary breaker whose favorite is savory AND sweet . . . for example: salted caramels, kettle corn, chocolate dipped pretzel rods . . . etc.

I know I've never met you, but I was one of Amy's roommates back in the day. I love reading your guys' blog! I am a sweet too, and am cursed with having TWO sweet teeth- ugh!

I too am a sweet, and this little sweet treat often saves me from calorie overload during evening TV time. Especially in the summer months.

2 cups chilled Ruby Red Crystal Light (other flavors work too, but this is our favorite)
aprox 2 cups of costco's frozen mixed berries
aprox 6 frozen strawberries (Also Costco - all hail costco!)

Blend on high for about a minute, split into two cups, get a straw and enjoy a big refreshing yummo smoothie for you and your sweetie, all for about 50 calories each. And it's very filling! Try it! You won't regret it!

the Healthy Choice fudge pops at Costco (are you shocked - costco again?) are also surprisingly great.

I am a sweet for sure! As you started listing treats my mouth began to water, but then I remembered the entire pint of bananas foster ice cream I just ate and thought how could I possibly want MORE sweets right now, but alas I do. I tried doing this sugarfree cleanse thing a few weeks ago. I was good at first, but in the end I ate an obscene amount of caramel corn because I am a sugar rebel at heart. Remember those fresh chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches at Disneyworld? Those haunt me.

I am with you. I would pick dessert over the meal any day of the week. Ryan is a savory kind of guy,. This means that when cookies/brownies/cakes (um...anything with fat+sugar) are gone I know who ate them. All of them.

I've got no good slimmed down ideas for you. I like my sugar real and my fat full.

I'm savory. But I give equal time to sweet.

I have been thinking about this post for days. I'm both, so it's tragic. There is nothing like a big chocolate chip cookie, but there's also nothing like Lay's Potato chips with cheese (don't judge.)
